Last Last of the Series is Here
This weekend the Last installment of The Submission Series will take place in Edmonton and Calgary. This is the last chance for those looking to fight for the Championship Belts at the Mind Body Soul to qualify.
There is still the normal Children’s divisions, Recreational Adult No Gi and Adult BJJ divisions (split by belt rank) for those looking to come out for fun.
SCHEDULE:
The Edmonton/Calgary schedule will be as follows:
8:30am children registration and weigh ins. Please register and weigh in 30 minutes before your event is scheduled.
9:00 am Children’s Game – ages 4-6
9:30am Children age 7, 8-9 and 10-12 Gi (Starting with lightest going to heaviest)
Children age 7, 8-9 and 10-12 No Gi (Starting with lightest going to heaviest) will start after their Gi division is finished
11:00 Teens ages 13-15 and Women Gi (Starting with lightest going to heaviest) will start after their no Gi division is finished
11am Adult registration and weigh ins.
12 Adult No Gi (Starting with lightest in one ring, heaviest in the other and working to the middle)
2pm Adult Blue belt and up (or once No Gi is finished)
2:30pm Adult Gi (Starting with lightest in one ring, heaviest in the other and working to the middle)
COSTS:
Children’s Game (ages 6 and under) – $15
Children 7, 8/9, 10/11, 12/13, 14-16 -$20 for 1 division and $30 for both Gi and No Gi
Adults $30 for 1 division and $40 for both Gi and No Gi

Submission Series Belts are in!
We are very excited to finally get the belts in for this years Champions. They definitely stand out and feel great. We will be awarding these belts tot he winners at the Mind Body Soul held June 21 in Edmonton.
Take a look at the RESULTS page to see where you stand (page will be updated soon) If you haven’t made the standings yet, make sure you don’t miss the last qualifier April 19 in Edmonton or Calgary.

Had some people asking about the times for the day.

New Registration Forms
With the addition of the new rules, we updated the forms.
Please make sure you go over the rules for the 7 and 8/9 year olds.
Please help us save paper and time by printing off a registration form and filling it out before you arrive.
Do not fill in the weight as that will need to be confirmed at the event.

Next Event 1 Month Away
The next Edition of The Submission Series is just around the corner.
The Edmonton Edition will be held March 1st at the Arashi Do North School at 12730 St. Albert Trail
The Calgary Edition will be held at MMA University at 6-49 Aero Dr NE
There will be some changes with the rules this year. These will affect children 7-9 years old.
7 year olds will start on their butts with legs crossed and have a 2 minute match with no submissions but points will be counted.
8-9 year olds will start standing and basic submissions will be allowed.
Please be sure to check the rules page to make sure you are familiar with them before competing.

The Survey Results are In!
After a a fair amount of discussion as to wether children 8 years old should be able to do Submissions at local tournaments we opened a survey to see what the public thinks. I was interested in the results and they will affect how we manage tournaments in the New Year. Keep in mind this will not change the rules for the Calgary Tournament this weekend.

I was very impressed with the interest and thank you to all that took the time. Like I have mentioned before, we want to take steps towards the official IBJJF rules every year and we will let you know which changes will be made over the Christmas break.
